The need

Today, mobility operators collect coarse data to manage the safety of their fleets, drivers, and cargos. Critical events such as accidents, while consequential to those involved, occur so infrequently that they can’t be used in any fine-grained analysis. A focus on near-misses, because they occur so frequently,  allows for a richer set of actions and conclusions that can positively impact the safety and financial outcomes of fleet operators.

Our product

We produce a real-time quantification of traffic hazards from existing on-board video sensors. The Systomix Hazard Measure™ is a continuous measure of relative hazard, for vehicle developers or fleet operators to understand potential hazards during vehicle operation.  The measure can be computed in real-time, offering feedback on the safety of the vehicle behavior, assessments across historical data, the relative hazard of routes, etc.

Markets we serve

Insurance
Insurers in commercial automotive can use this tool to independently evaluate the pre- and post risk levels of their customers’ drivers and routes, a powerful quantitative assessment tool that can lead to dramatic increases in safety.
OEM and Tier One AV Vehicle Developers
The industry does not have a standard test method to evaluate active safety/risk performance of their vehicles during development.  We provide this.
Fleet Operators
Safety managers do not have quantitative tools to evaluate the quality of their drivers or the hazard level of their routes nor any means of generating suggested mitigations to found behavior.

Our method

We are introducing a physics-based traffic hazard measure that can serve as a credible independent tool to evaluate the safety of all mobility systems—whether driven by humans or computers—while being used by the diversity of stakeholder groups necessary to make automated mobility safe and acceptable.

Analytics and system engineering processes derived from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory make these data more useful for decision making purposes, including risk-based trade tools.
